Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras
March 1991 to July 1995 – Promotions & Marketing Director / Board Director of community organization which stages gay and lesbian events of pride, including one of the most spectacular night-time parades in the world (220 entries in 1997, watched by 700,000 people live and broadcast on a national commercial TV network), 2 very large dance parties (Mardi Gras Party – 20,000 people and Sleaze Ball – 17,000 people) and the largest gay and lesbian arts festival in the world.
July 1994 to July 1995 – President of the Board of Directors
Responsible for management of the 14-member Board of Directors, 10 full-time staff and over 1,000 volunteers. Also public spokesperson for the organization involving extensive exposure through press, radio and television, and liaison with Federal, State and local politicians, and leaders of other key community organizations.
